Art is for everyone

Through art instruction, storytelling and reflection, I am an artist! celebrates art as a transformative force that needs to be part of every child's education. Presented as a free webseries of 6-8 minutes art explorations, I am an artist! showcases the work of a diverse range of artists who operate both in and out of the canon, artists of varied backgrounds and abilities, who reinforce the idea that art comes from everywhere and is something we can make and enjoy, that art is an invaluable vehicle for self discovery and community building. We want these videos to become a portal into shared explorations that go beyond art techniques. We are aiming for a more empathetic understanding of how children access knowledge. Art making is an ideal place to address complex issues like migration, community, justice and identity, and has been proven to be an effective instrument against violence and intolerance, not only in society but within the foundation of precious children's minds.
